Description:

Work with our Volunteer Recruitment Team to inspire people to volunteer with the Red Cross! Our Recruitment Team Members work to: contacting prospective agencies through phone calls, representing the Red Cross at recruitment events and in the community, researching and developing a strategic database of community partners.

Skills / Experience:

  • Ability to relate to people from varied cultural, social, and economic backgrounds.

  • Must be comfortable on the phone.

  • Strong organizational skills and strong verbal and written communication skills. 

  • Ability to work independently in a multi-tasked environment. 

  • Familiarity with Microsoft Word, Excel and the internet (internet is a must.)

Description:

Help us save lives by volunteering as a Blood Donor Ambassador! Our Blood Donor Ambassadors: greet donors, explain the donation process as necessary and assist with initial intake and hand offs through the blood donation process Manage donor flow at temp taking station to ensure only donors passing temp screen are permitted access. Explain purpose of temperature screen to donors and ensure they understand reason for deferral if applicable. Direct donor to next step of donation or options for future donations if deferred. Model excellent customer service behaviors. Ensure blood donors have relevant information and that questions are answered appropriately while creating a favorable impression of the blood donation process. Learn and share the Red Cross story, including the mission, vision, and values Provide customer service to donors in the Hospitality Area by ensuring that each donor is recognized for his/her contribution. Report possible adverse post-donation physical reactions to the collections staff. Responsible to inform donors of current and upcoming donation promotions.

Skills / Experience:

  • Must be over the age of 16

  • Ability to display the utmost professionalism and communication skills 

  • Extremely comfortable working with people from diverse communities and backgrounds 

  • Ability to understand technology needed for position: Donor Check-in, Donor Tablet, Rapid Pass, Donor App. 

  • Ability to explain/teach technology to donors and fellow volunteers 

  • Ability to regularly commit to schedule, arrive punctually and adapt to a change driven culture

NOTE: May be required to meet 18 or over age requirements to take temperatures and perform certain disinfecting tasks.

Description:

Join our Disaster Action Team and respond home fires in your local community. Our Disaster Action Team Members: Works as part of an assigned team to respond to local disasters within two hours. Works with on-scene lead to assess whether additional resources/support are required and communicates those needs to DAT Leadership. Attends regularly scheduled team/DAT meetings as required by Chapter/Region. Commits to being available during assigned shifts and communicates scheduling conflicts with DAT Leadership. Other responsibilities as assigned by DAT Leadership.

Skills / Experience:

  • Demonstrated commitment to mission of the American Red Cross

  • Remains current with all required training. 

  • Able to respond reliably when on call. 

  • Able to follow Red Cross DAT and other related standards and procedures. 

  • Ability to learn and use Red Cross systems and online interfaces.

  • Ability to work in challenging and stressful conditions such as poor air quality, uneven ground, adverse weather, etc. 

  • Must have a valid driver's license and/or a timely, reliable way to get to the scene.

  • Strong written and verbal communications skills.
